If there’s one thing our Wedding Executive, Kimberly Coenen, knows, weddings are one of the best days of your life but can also be one of the most stressful. To help make your day run a little smoother and your emotions a little calmer, Kimberly shares her top two tips for all of her brides:
1. “Don’t check the weather.”
It’s your big day. You’ve put blood, sweat and tears into planning. You want it to be perfect. But there’s one thing you can’t plan; the weather.
You will have a lot on your mind throughout the days leading up to your wedding and the morning of, let alone thinking about what the weather will be like. Kimberly says, “You don’t want something you can’t control to take away from the enjoyment of the day, so focus on what you can control.” Have a plan B that’s just as dreamy as plan A, find a wedding planner and venue (us) that you can wholeheartedly trust, and be okay with either outcome because marrying your best friend and creating memories is the most important thing.
2. “Don’t watch the clock.”
It’s 2:45pm. Your hair and makeup aren’t ready. Your ceremony is scheduled to start at 3:00pm. Should you stress? No way!
There’s a lot of elements to think about on the day of your wedding like the venue set up, hair and makeup, photography and bouquet deliveries just to name a few. It’s going to fly by. You don’t need to be watching the clock to make sure you’re on time as well.
Kimberly gave us one very comforting piece of advice, “no one knows your schedule but you”. If you’re 15 minutes late to your ceremony or reception, only you, the bridal party and relevant vendors know that – everyone else only knows the guest arrival time. Ask a trusted friend or family member to keep an eye on the clock for you, but if you need a little extra time to get ready or to take photos, go for it, no one will notice!
